Bruno Karlsson 1927 -
Alf Brüno Valentin Karlsson was born on January 12, 1927 and received his education in Denmark where he passed his final test before the Danish Ceramics Association. Bruno then settles in Vetlanda where in 1951 he started Hällinge Ceramics together with Ragnar Carlsson, formerly employed at Syco in Strömstad. They were not related. Bruno was in charge of the turn, while Ragnar was glazing and burning. The manufacture consisted mainly of articles of use and ornaments, often in pastel colors. Bruno leaves the workshop in Vetlanda in 1962 and moves to Strömstad. There he works for a period as a pivot at Syco, before being employed at Rörstrand in Lidköping. Ragnar Carlsson continued to operate Hällinge Ceramics alone until the early 1970s.
In 1973 Bruno started working on EGO Stengods. There he mainly devoted himself to the manufacture of uniquely hand-turned stoneware, preferably slim 1930s / 40s style vases according to himself. He stays at EGO Stoneware until 1985. During the period 1985-87 he is back at Rörstrand, after which he and his wife start their own pottery workshop in Lidköping. The items manufactured at EGO were signed "BK" and at Hällinge Ceramics the signature "HK" or label was used.
EGO stengods was founded 1966 and closed down 1988.
They were situated in the Swedish town of Lidköping.
