Genuine antique Swedish oval bentwood box dated 1847, hand-painted in traditional kurbits/rosemaling style with floral motifs in red, blue, yellow and white over a deep green ground. Steamed and bent pine staves, banded with hand-forged iron straps and round-headed nails, fitted with a swing handle. EVERY PART IS ORIGINAL: wood, paint, iron bands, hinges, lock plate and handle — nothing replaced or restored. Original wrought iron lock mechanism intact and functional, no key included. CONDITION: Honest antique wear — craquelure, paint fading, oxidation on the metal fittings, patina consistent with nearly two centuries of age. Interior is unfinished natural pine showing original tool marks and joinery. MEASUREMENTS:
