A beautiful antique Swedish tabletop dressing mirror in the Biedermeier / Empire taste, with a tilting (swing) mirror plate set between two finely turned wood columns and a serpentine-fronted base fitted with a single drawer.
The crest is hand-carved with a scrolling acanthus palmette, and the frame shows warm walnut veneer with ebonised quarter blocks and trim — a classic 19th-century Northern European combination. The mirror tilts smoothly on rounded side knobs, so the angle adjusts to your seat at the dressing table.
The original mirror plate carries genuine age – soft foxing and patches of light loss in the silvering. This is honest, period character rather than a fault, and it gives the glass its authentic antique depth. The drawer slides well and is ideal for jewellery, brushes or small keepsakes.
A decorative and functional piece for a bedroom, dressing room or entryway – equally at home as a vanity mirror on a console or accent table.
