Erik Wörtz Teak Sideboard for IKEA – Hallbyrå, Sweden 1950s–60s

A rare and collectible hallbyrå designed by Erik Wörtz for IKEA, Sweden, 1950s–1960s. Wörtz designed only a handful of pieces for IKEA during this period, making each surviving example genuinely sought after among mid-century collectors.

This compact sideboard in richly grained teak combines two sliding doors with sculptural round recessed pulls, a pair of central drawers with a distinctive carved handle, and an open display shelf — all raised on solid beech legs that give the piece its characteristic lifted, airy stance.

This piece has been professionally restored before leaving our studio. Surfaces have been carefully cleaned, treated, and finished to bring out the full depth of the grain. Sliding doors and drawers operate smoothly. Ready to use from day one, shipped in a custom-built wooden crate made specifically for this piece.
