Telephone Bench with Drawer (Gossip Bench / Gossip Seat) – Carved Wood, Floral Tapestry Upholstery, French Louis XV Style, Sweden
A charming telephone bench, also known as a gossip bench, in the French Louis XV / Rococo Revival taste. It combines an upholstered seat on one side with a raised side table and a single drawer on the other – the classic hallway piece for the telephone, a notebook and small keepsakes.
The solid carved wood frame is finished in a warm reddish-brown tone, with a shell-carved crest, scrolled arm and graceful cabriole legs. The seat and back are upholstered in a verdure floral tapestry with green foliage and soft pastel blooms, trimmed with antique brass nailhead studs. The side table top and drawer front echo the same rich wood finish, with a small brass pull.
A decorative and practical accent for an entryway, hallway, bedroom or dressing area.
Materials: solid carved hardwood, tapestry upholstery, brass nailhead trim.
Condition: Authentic vintage item in good condition, with light surface wear and patina consistent with age. Upholstery well preserved.
