A wonderfully exuberant piece of 1970s Swedish folk art, this cross-stitch wall hanging depicts three tall white candles with golden flame tops, adorned with silver sequins and metallic thread details that catch the light beautifully. Around them, a cluster of tulips in vivid orange, pink, red and white rise from bright green stems against a deep charcoal grey ground, with a row of turquoise cross-stitch flowers along the base adding a playful finishing touch.
The combination of cross-stitch embroidery with applied sequins and metallic thread is a hallmark of Scandinavian textile craft from this period — bold, graphic and full of personality. The piece is presented in a slim solid teak frame, ready to hang.
