A bold and cheerful piece of Swedish folk art, this vintage wool embroidery wall hanging features a large stylised sunflower at its centre, surrounded by a repeating border of smaller floral motifs in golden yellow and burnt orange against a deep forest green ground. The graphic, almost geometric quality of the design is characteristic of mid-century Scandinavian textile craft — simple in form, yet rich in texture and colour.
The piece is worked in wool using the cross-stitch technique on a woven ground and is presented on its original black wrought iron hanging rod with a decorative heart-shaped top — ready to hang straight from the wall.
